REPORTING AFTER FESTA TA’ SANT ANNA – AT PWALES CHAPEL ON 13TH JULY 2024
Dear members and friends of ALPS.,
The selection of photos that are attached with this message goes to show, how our association thrives in preparing for festa Sant Anna Pwales each year. Except for a short absence of two years during Covid-19, we have been organising for our members and friends, this yearly celebration with holy Mass and small reception afterwards.
In spite of the fact that we were very short of manpower this year with only three council members present, we still managed to come out with flying colours to the satisfaction of everyone who attended on 13th July 2024. This was a special year because we are celebrating a 30thanniversary from foundation date of ALPS. For this occasion we have been honoured with the presence of His Grace Mons. Gorg Frendo ( archbishop Emeritus ). Together with our spiritual director Fr. William Bartolo and Fr. Damien who was representing the St. Paul’s Bay parish community, the concelebrated holy mass was held on the chapel parvis. It was well attended by a sizeable congregation of members with their families and friends.
This year also, we had in attendance our friend Milo Vassallo and his dear wife Rita who are on a short visit to Malta. Milo looks after the ALPS outstation in Toronto Canada and he still keeps in touch with many Liceo Past students who have taken up residence there for a good number of years. A spontaneous collection that amounted to €250 from those who have attended, was donated to Bishop Frendo to help in his continued missionary work in Tirana Albania. Light snacks and drinks were served to everyone after mass and the people have all enjoyed the evening to the sounds coming from the fields below the chapel and the clear blue sky that has made the evening more pleasant to everyone’s delight. Not missing of course, were the usual fruits freshly cut from the cultivated fields below the kappella, and so generously served at the festa gathering by the Vella / Bezzina families who year in year out help ALPS with the cleaning of the chapel. For this we thank them.
To all those who came to Festa Sant’Anna Pwales on 13-07-2024, ALPS wants to say thank you for attending our event. Your presence during the festa at Pwales chapel was a delight and we appreciate your making the effort to attend. Your participation has certainly contributed to its success. The continued support to the ALPS events, leaves a lasting impression and we definitely hope to see you in other future events organised by
The Association of Lyceum Past Students. Must not forget to also thank, ex-council member Peter Tortell who, In spite of his advanced age of 89 years, wanted to come and also give a helping hand with the preparation of the altar for Holy Mass.
Thank you all and keep well.
