REQUIEM MASS AT PWALES<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Association of Lyceum Past Students paid its spiritual
\n respects to the souls of deceased ALPS members, former Lyceum
\n students and teachers, their own relatives and those of the
\n Pwales community at the now-traditional Requiem Mass at the
\n St Anne Chapel in Pwales.<\/p>\n

There was a good-sized congregation for this sombre, purely-religious
\n activity. Mass was said by ALPS Spiritual Director Fr William
\n Bartolo who, it being the feast of Christ the King, delivered
\n an interesting homily suited to the occasion but which on
\n the whole gave hope for the life beyond.<\/p>\n

The small Pwales community obviously appreciated the thought
\n that their own relatives, some of whom may never have gone
\n anywhere near the Lyceum, were still thought of by this association
\n that is taking such loving care of \u201ctheir\u201d chapel.
\n At the end of the service President George Stagno Navarra
\n commented on their attendance and said this was a source of
\n pleasure to the Association.<\/p>\n

WATCH OUT FOR \u201cMEANDER\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

St Anne\u2019s Chapel and ALPS\u2019s work on it will be
\n featured on the PBS cultural programme \u201cMeander\u201d
\n on the evening of 30th November<\/strong>. In spite
\n of inclement weather the programme\u2019s producer and presenter
\n Mariella Pisani Bencini and a cameraman went to the chapel
\n to film on-site interviews with President George Stagno Navarra
\n and Chapel Committee Chairman Charles Calleja. <\/p>\n

This particular edition of \u201cMeander\u201d will be
\n a source of great pride for ALPS members to watch.<\/p>\n

CHRISTMAS DINNER<\/strong><\/p>\n

This month\u2019s newsletter features ALPS\u2019s Yuletide
\n activity (another reason why ALPS News<\/em> is being issued
\n so early). Bookings for the dinner, at Lm9 per person, must
\n be made with Secretary-General Alex Borg on 21 386812 or e-mail
\n studiomoda@global.net.mt by midday of 9th December<\/strong>
\n at the latest. There will also be very attractive spot prizes
\n to be won.<\/p>\n

MEMBERSHIP DUES<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is all too well known that the statutory date for the
\n ALPS AGM is any day in the last week of January, and the AGM
\n can be attended only by current members. Unfortunately we
\n always get a number of laggards who find it hard to make some
\n time to open their chequebook and send a leaf out of it (with
\n all the details, of course!) to Treasurer Joe Mallia at \u201cDaffodil
\n Court\u201d, A\/3 St George\u2019s Street, St Venera HMR
\n 18. Their eleventh-hour efforts will be highly appreciated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
